- 1. Start off by turning off the circuit breaker for the spa’s electrical line, or if possible, unplug the unit. Then remove the cover and drain the spa.
- 2. Use a wet/dry shop vacuum to vacuum out all the water jets and air jets. And any other excess water in the filter area and in the foot well of the spa.
- 4. Leave a large terrycloth towel in a lump in the bottom of the foot well to soak up any additional water that might get in.
- 5. Turn off the circuit breaker that is used for the spa in your home breaker box. Also unplug the spa if it is a 110 volt unit.
- 6. Loosen or unscrew the fitting that attaches the plastic PVC pipe to the stainless steel heater. See photo below. In extreme cold the plastic will contract more than the steel and the plastic can crack.
- 7. Open the spa cabinet to access the water pumps. The pump consists of a motor and a wet end. The wet end is the part that spins the water. At the bottom of the wet end there is a nut, usually plastic, about the size of a dime. Unscrew that nut and vacuum the excess water out of the wet end. See photo below.
